Can you Start a blog for free? Of course, you can. You can start a free blog with Wix quickly and easily. Running a blog for free will come with some sacrifices. But as long as you don’t need those extra features, it’s a great way to get your blog up and running with zero investment.

A Free Site on Wix will get you:
- Free Domain Name. The domain name is set as USERNAME.wixsite.com/SITEADDRESS
- Ads on every page.
- 500 MB of storage
- 500 MB of bandwidth
What You’re Missing:
- You have to use their domain name. To choose your own domain name you’ll have to upgrade.
- To remove ads from your site, you will also have to upgrade.
- You’ll be unable to receive payments or have an online e-commerce store with the free version.
How To Start a Free Blog With Wix
1. Signing up

The signing up process is very easy. Enter your email and password twice. They will send you an email to confirm your email address. And you’re good to go.
Head over to Wix to sign up now.
You’re even able to sign up using your Facebook and Google login information.
2. Pick a Template

Wix has hundreds of templates you can choose for your website or blog. You can filter them by category to get the perfect fit for your site.
On a desktop, you’ll be able to hover over the template to get a mobile preview.
Once you have found the perfect template for your site, hit the edit button to be taken to the Wix Editor.
3. Wix Editor

In the Wix Editor, you’re able to drag and drop edit anything on your page. Use the menu on the left-hand side to add menus and pages, change backgrounds, add texts, images, graphics, galleries, apps, media, bookings, blog, and more.
Choose between the desktop and mobile icon on the top menu to change your website view between desktop and mobile.
4. Start Blogging

To add a blog section to your site, hit the “Start Blogging” on the left-hand menu.
Once you add a blog to your site, Wix will automatically add a Blog page to your site’s menu and take you to the Blog Manager.
The Blog Manager will allow you to create and manage your blog posts. You will also be able to customize how you want to showcase your posts.
5. Start Adding Your Posts
Hit the “Create a Post” to start adding posts to your site.
Technically, you don’t need to add posts to your website before moving onto the next step. You should add content to help fill out your blog a bit but it isn’t required to hit publish.
6. Publish

You can change your username in your account settings and your Site Address in the Dashboard under Site Actions.
If you haven’t already, head over to your Dashboard and follow the walk-through to finish setting up your site.
