15 Ways to Make Money Before Christmas

01. Retail.

Lots of retail stores will hire extra staff during the holidays because they are just way too busy for their regular amount of staff. It works out great for everyone – you need a temporary job and they need a temporary worker. Some shops only open up around the holidays like Christmas tree lots.

$7.00 per hour = 142 hours
$10.00 per hour = 100 hours
$12.00 per hour = 84 hours

02. Shoveling Snow.

This could keep you extremely busy and rolling in extra dough – if you live in an area that snows that is. One of my old neighbors paid $100 a month to have his snow shoveled. Even if it didn’t snow at all, or if it snowed every single day. It snowed pretty frequently though. Even charging $10-$20 each time can add your money up quickly.

03. Babysitting

I’m not sure what everyone is charging everywhere else but here it’s $5 per hour per child. Babysitting costs add up quickly. And this time of year, people tend to be busy. You can even promote yourself to watch children so that parents can get their Christmas shopping done.

Christmas is the best time of year to start a wrapping business. Are you a great wrapper? Turn your wrapping skills into a business.

The bonus is most people will buy more than one gift. Even if you’re only wrapping small presents, you might only need 30 clients instead of 334. And once you start mixing in some larger presents you can easily reach $1000 before Christmas.

06. Sell Your Old Stuff

Have a bunch of old stuff sitting around? I know I have tons, even after getting rid of boxes of stuff last week.

The old stuff will pile up fast especially if you have kids. My youngest has gone up 2 sizes in the last 2 months.

Even if you don’t have kids, I cleaned out my kitchen recently and came out with 2 boxes worth of extra stuff. I had 8 rubber spatulas, 3 pasta scoops, and 2 coffee presses that no one even uses EVER and they were just taking up space. Now my kitchen’s less packed – still needs some more work – and I made a bit of extra cash.
